Celebration of Life + Obituary

Karin Constance McCabe, also known as “KC”, “Casey” or “ZZ”, (September 15, 1949 – August 15th, 2024) passed away at the age of 74 in the early hours of the morning in Albuquerque, NM.

She was preceded in death by her father Jack M. McCabe, and her mother Ellen M. Simons. She is survived by her daughter Bryn E. McCabe-Kelly, her grandson Taihg, her sister Sheryl A. Kraemer, her brother Jay M. McCabe, Dan Dirks, nephews Brad Hudgeons and his children, Jason Yeitrakis and his children, and niece Tiffany Yeitrakis-Truitt and Lee Truitt and their children, John R. Mocho, fur babies Windy, Rain, Finnegan, and many loving family and friends who touched her life over the years and brought her great joy.

Casey will be remembered for her kindness, generosity, artistic talent, and endless creativity. Throughout her life, she included art in whatever she did and wherever she went, even having a career she loved as an art therapist that allowed her to help people through art. She adamantly believed that “art saves lives” and lived by that spirit in everything she did and touched. She adored the many dogs, cats, bunnies, and ferrets, whom she dearly loved, bringing her great companionship and happiness over the years. Casey was an avid reader, loved to learn for the sake of learning, and always found meaning and beauty in everyone and everything around her. She always looked for and found joy, even in the darkest times.

A Celebration of Life and Art Exhibition with art, music, crafting, food, and drink will be held on what would have been her 75th birthday at O’Niell’s Pub in Albuquerque, NM on September 15th.

The family takes comfort in knowing she is at peace and will forever hold her in their hearts.
